President Ram Nath Kovind prayed at the historic Gurdwara Ber Sahib at Sultanpur Lodhi in Kapurthala district of Punjab. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh congratulated the people on the occasion. Devotees offered prayers at various places including the historic gurdwara at Sultanpur Lodhi in Punjab. Guru Nanak Dev had spent 14 years of his life in Sultanpur Lodhi in Kapurthala district and attained enlightenment.

Devotees from different parts of the country could be seen in long queues for Ardas at Gurdwara Ber Sahib in Sultanpur Lodhi as the excitement of the festival peaked there. At this place, President Ramnath Kovind took a bath with wife Savita. Wearing a suit and wearing a turban on his head, Kovind appealed to the people to follow the path of Guru Nanak and work towards ending social inequality.
